Pig Luv Co.

About us...

Pig Luv Co is a 501c3 non profit organization located in Valley Springs, California dedicated to the care of mini pigs in need of rescue,  fostering, rehoming, medical rehabilitation, nutrition  or long term sanctuary.  A staggering number of mini pigs find themselves abandoned or in search of another home for various reasons, mainly that they didn't meet unrealistic expectations of staying "small".  In addition, mini pigs face abuse and neglect often times as our country seems to be facing an epidemic of animals being mistreated.  We believe in taking action with urgency in order to raise public awareness about some of the most pressing issues facing mini pigs and are raising funds and promoting initiatives to make this happen.  Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of mini pigs

In the Beginning

The universe presents you with things in life and you can ignore it or make it into something really special.  This all started with one pig, Piddy.  She was a tiny little girl who was the runt of her litter and was rejected by her mom.  We started out not knowing a lot about mini pigs, especially the challenges they face from inaccurate representation.  Our baby girl grew and grew and we just loved her to pieces.  We decided to bring a companion into the family for her which lead to our first adoption of another mini pig, Peter.  From there, just like our first girl, it just grew and grew.  We now have several mini pigs that we have adopted, rescued, fostered and provided with long term sanctuary.  Daily there are more mini pigs in need of homes and we are working diligently to do our part so people are educated and mini pigs find their way to their safe and loving forever home.

Sadly we lost our first baby girl this year 2022..Fly High Sweet Baby..this is all because of you..we will honor you by continuing our mission with you watching over us.

Why do we do this?

One question we consistently get, "Why do you do that?".  It's a pretty simple answer really.

Because we........

 Luv The Snout!!!

Here at Pig Luv Co, we are driven by a single goal;  to do our part in making the world a better place one pig at a time.

What do we do?

Making A Difference

Rescue

Many families get a mini pig and expect them to stay small when in reality they can weigh anywhere between 50-300lbs.  And this range is when they are fed a proper diet.  Mini Pigs are also not fully grown until around 5 years of age.  This results in many families abandoning their pets when they outgrow the convenient size they want.  Contact us to learn more about our rescue efforts and how can you support it.

Rehabilitation

At Pig Luv Co., we are dedicated to addressing the trauma that many mini pigs face such as injuries, abandonment, and emotional/physical abuse.  Thru education we believe we can facilitate progress in this area and strive to make a difference in the lives of pigs.  We invite you to learn more and lend your support.

Rehome & Long Term Care

Our goal is for every pig to be matched with a loving forever home.  While some pigs may transition to their forever home, there are some that will remain at Pig Luv Co. long term.  There are a variety of reasons to remain at Pig Luv Co.  For those that remain, we provide each pig with an abundance of love and care.

Nutrition Camp
This is Ms Sophia...she came to us in 2018 (and yes...this is the same pig). She was a very unhealthy 400lbs at 2 years old. We developed a nutrition plan that has proven to be very successful. It took 3 years but she is now 121lbs...she is healthy and happy. Sadly obese mini pigs have residual health issues, even after the weight loss. Ms. Sophia suffers from severe arthritis in her legs. We targeted her mobility issues with supplements and CBD. She is now living a functional life and nothing stops this girl any longer.

The birth of Pig Luv Co Nutrition Camp stemmed from her success. We offer onsite nutrition camp as well as consultations to ensure nutrition is on point. Nutrition is important for mini pigs to live a long healthy life...the life they deserve.

Penelope "Nelope"

Ms. Nelope is a 10 year old mini pig.  She came to us when her previous owner could not meet her needs any longer.  She arrived obese and severely arthritic.  Nelope had a very difficult time with simple tasks such as standing and walking.  Since arriving at Pig Luv Co., she has lost approximately 75 pounds and is experiencing great relief from her arthritis.  She is enjoying a proper diet including lots of vegetables and more exercise.  She continues to require medication to manage her pain from arthritis.  Ms. Nelope appears happy with her sanctuary here and will reside here as her forever home.

Sadly we lost Ms Nelope in 2022.

Mr. Johnny Cash "John John"

Mr. John came to Pig Luv Co in January 2018.  He was having difficulty getting along with another pig in his home.  Prior to that, he was with someone who kept him small by limiting food intake resulting in many developmental challenges for him.  He is most certainly a smaller mini pig and will always experience residual effects.  John is a super sweet young man and does most things at a slower speed than his other herd mates.

Ms. Lucy

Ms. Lucy is a recent addition to the Pig Luv Co. family.  She experienced a heartbreaking situation before arriving here.  Lucy lived with her family until their circumstances suddenly changed.  With those changes came a move for the family.  Sadly for Lucy she was not part of this move and was left to fend for herself.  She was left without food, water and shelter.  Lucky for her a neighbor was able to provide safety short term after she had been attacked by neighborhood dogs.  She was transported to us by volunteers who continue to keep in touch for Lucy updates.  She is very shy and timid but is coming around.  Lucy is not currently spayed and Pig Luv Co. will be raising funds for this procedure.

Ms. Rosie

Ms. Rosie came to Pig Luv Co. in January 2018.  She came to us from a shelter in Lake County and was known as "the red pig".  She had lived in the shelter for approximately 2 months since her previous owners surrendered her.  She was transported to us by an amazing volunteer.  It was a tough trip from the shelter to us, car rides are not Ms. Rosie's favorite.  Since arriving she has blossomed.  She is one of the herd leaders and is often spending time with the younger pigs teaching them the ropes.  Ms. Rosie will sit for treats and when asked if she wants more will nod her head yes.  She is very intelligent and is guaranteed to flop for a belly rub.

Plastic swimming pools

Sponsorship-

Another exciting way to participate in our efforts is to sponsor a pig or pigs.  The monthly costs to care for mini pigs is quite expensive. The average range of sponsorships is $25-$100. We have several piggies with higher levels of needs due to morbid obesity thus resulting in arthritis. Sponsoring is a great way to ensure that we continue to have funds available to accept new mini pigs in need.  A helpful way is to donate through reoccurring payments either by check or paypal.

*Monetary donations can be made via Venmo or simply mailing a Check or Money Order. By providing your mailing address, a charitable deduction letter will be sent to you following receipt of your donation.

Volunteer Your Time

Help Us Soar

This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause.  We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved.  This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do at Pig Luv Co.  Even donating your time for belly rubs is important in the care of our herd.

Educate

Spread The Word

Want to join our efforts but not sure where to start?  Talking about what we do and why is a great first step.  It is important for the well being of mini pigs that people understand the commitment required to care for them.  It is also important for people to understand the great undertaking for rescues/sanctuaries where pigs frequently find themselves when their owners are not prepared for the responsibility.

If you would like to learn more please contact Pig Luv Co. and schedule a visit to meet our piggies and develop a deeper understanding of mini pigs and their needs.
